Why it’s important to listen in History class.. (via Greg Laden).
To quote Santayana – ‘Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it’…. or as a commenter on another great blog says – are condemned to make fools of themselves on television…
And while we’re at it here’s more from the US…
I think we should call a truce on using WW11 in public debate it has become so debased and distanced from the actual events to make it worthless. You have to give some kudos to the talk show host for at least knowing Neville Chamberlin was British! Thanks for posting this clip i did have to check it wasn’t on the Onion channel….
You like that?
You’ll love this:
Hello from Nantucket.
And no, I haven’t met the famous man yet.
Chris – Chris Matthews hosts ‘Hardball’ on MSNBC, and although I’m not a regular viewer (actually never seen his show before now – so I’m not a viewer at all) I was impressed by his persistence…
On his blog he says –
SS – the only famous Nantucketian (?) I can find on the intertubes is James Otis, American revolutionary/elsewhere described Patriot (and although Nantucket claims him as a son, he seems to be from somewhere else in MA) – but he died in 1783, so I can’t see how you could meet him anyway. Is that who you mean?
There Once Was A Man From Nantucket….
I know, I know….
….Who kept all his cash in a bucket.
But his daughter, named Nan,
Ran away with a man
And as for the bucket, Nantucket.
Aw, the videos are gone.
Seem to be working fine here Coleen!
